四甘醇二甲醚或四乙二醇二甲醚是一种有机非质子性无色溶剂，能形成薄膜。四乙二醇二甲醚可作为碱金氢化物的优良溶剂。用于烷基化缩合和还原等多种化学反应工艺中。由于该化合物具有路易斯碱性，所以它能选择吸收酸性气体，用于合成气、天然气、乙炔等气体的纯化。

Tetraglyme helps in selective adsorption of proteins while promoting cell adhesion. Other general uses include as an electrolyte in lithium ion battery.
