一般描述
质软、轻而多空。为含有88%的硅的水生硅藻的碎片。能吸收大于本身4倍的水。溶于浓碱和氢氟酸，不溶于水、酸或稀碱。具有一定的吸附能力和良好的过滤性。 注：Celite 是Celite Corp的注册商标
硅藻土是由硅藻化石骨架形成的天然无定形二氧化硅构成的。提取、粉碎、干燥并使用助焊剂材料煅烧。DE被广泛用作建筑材料、涂料中的填料和农用化学品的防结块剂。它具有高的吸水和吸油能力。
硅藻土可用作柱色谱法的吸附剂。
Diatomaceous earth is made up of natural amorphous silica formed from the fossilized skeletons of diatoms.It is extracted, crushed, dried and calcined with flux material. DE is widely used as filler in construction materials, paints and as an anti-caking agent for agricultural chemicals.It has high water and oil absorption ability.
Diatomaceous earth may be used as an adsorbent for column chromatography.
