Disulfiram is a DNA demethylating agent and DIG1 inducer which inhibits prostate cancer cell growth by inhibition of DNA methyltransferase (Dnmt). In addition, studies indicate that disulfiram inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) resulting in the accumulation of acetaldehyde upon ethanol ingestion.
